To salvage the semester, college professors make a rapid pivot to teaching online

In March 2020, when the university transitioned to remote instruction, Marcio A. Oliveira, Assistant Vice President for Academic Technology and Innovation, stressed the importance of faculty being flexible, patient and creative in designing and implementing their courses.

Initiatives

These projects focus on the interface between students’ and instructors’ experiences with academic technology and how these experiences impact learning processes in both face-to-face and digital contexts. We come to work each day committed to uncovering new evidence, patterns, or insights into the learning and teaching experience at the University of Maryland, knowing that statistical trends that we uncover likely yield important implications for the students and faculty whom we serve.

One Button Studios

Eight One Button Studios are now available across campus! These are simplified recording studios that allow you to create high-quality video projects without having to know anything about lights and cameras. You only need to bring a flash drive with you and push a single button to start the recording.

Security Enhancement for Zoom Recordings

Beginning on January 5, 2021, all new UMD Zoom recordings will be hosted on UMD Panopto servers instead of Zoom servers. UMD Panopto is the institutional platform for lecture capture and media management. This new process enhances security levels of these recordings and consolidates the storage of instructional media.
