Scheduled Outage of IT Services March 20, 2022

On Sunday, March 20, 2022 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., the Division of Information Technology will conduct a set of disaster recovery and service resiliency tests for numerous IT systems. The State Office of Legislative Audits requires that disaster recovery planning and testing be conducted annually. Conducting such tests is essential to ensuring that IT services can withstand failure large and small.

Systems that will be unavailable include, but are not limited to:

  • Student Information System (SIS)    
  • Kuali Financial System (KFS)
  • Student Accounts Receivable
  • Student Financial Aid
  • Testudo
  • Networked Storage (Isilon)
  • Prosam
  • Optix


Systems that could be briefly unavailable are:

  • Authentication services (which could impact ability to establish new application sessions)
  • Wireless networking and wireless network authentication
  • DIT-hosted SQL Server databases
  • ELMS-Canvas
  • UMD Gmail email and calendar systems serving faculty, staff, and grad students
  • Payroll and Human Resources System (PHR)
  • ELMS Management Tool


The following systems will NOT be impacted and will remain in service during the testing:

  • Campus wired networking and Internet access
  • University website
  • TERPmail student email
  • Phone/voice services
  • Systems operating out of college and department IT facilities
  • Virtual Private Networking (GlobalProtect VPN)

Should there be any service disruptions during the testing, they will be communicated via the IT Service Desk website.
