Join a Community of Practice

Communities of Practice (CoPs) are groups of UMD professionals who share information, experiences, and ideas related to a particular IT topic in support of the university’s missions.

UTCC's goal is to improve communication and increase collaboration among the various people and units responsible for providing IT support, infrastructure, and administrative services throughout the university. It focuses on IT issues that exist on the College Park campus, but maintains an awareness of how system-wide issues may affect campus. The Google Group is used to communicate with the committee. To join the group, visit the UMD-UTCC group page and click "Join Group." Information about upcoming meetings, agendas, and other items of interest are sent to this list.

The Learning Technologies Community of Practice helps bring together partners in the UMD community who support instructional design and instructional technology via monthly virtual meetings and the LTCoP ELMS space. To join and access the space, email elms@umd.edu.

The Classroom Support Operations Committee (CSOC) solicits faculty input and feedback in determining classroom needs, and provides a multi-tiered system of technology support. CSOC is chaired by Jennifer Riggs representing the Office of the Registrar.

The Project Management Community of Practice provides the greater UMD project management community a forum to share information, methodologies and common challenges. We discuss easy-to-consume actionable knowledge and invest in a community of individuals that find value in the project management practicum. The group meets virtually via Zoom bimonthly, on the first Tuesday of even months: February, April, June, etc. To join, complete the Project Management CoP Interest Form

Google Cloud offers compute, storage, big data, and machine learning services. DIT hosts a growing Google Cloud Community of Practice to share information about Google Cloud at UMD and upcoming training sessions and to allow Google Cloud users to collaborate around questions and best practices. If you're interested, visit our GCP Community of Practice page and ask to join our Google Space.
