ADA Rule on Digital Accessiblity Deadline Extension

On April 20, 2026, the Department of Justice (DOJ) extended the deadline for compliance with DOJ’s 2024 ADA Title II digital accessibility rule by one year, moving the deadline from April 24, 2026 to April 26, 2027. The university is assessing the impact of this development and will provide additional guidance as it becomes available.

This extension does not remove the university’s ongoing obligation to ensure that its services, programs, and activities offered through web content and mobile apps are accessible to individuals with disabilities in accordance with existing legal obligations (including any other federal rules) and university policy. University units should continue pursuing ongoing plans and otherwise working diligently towards accessibility and compliance of digital environments.

The Division of IT provides digital accessibility services, tools, and resources to support our community and ensure that our services are accessible and usable by all community members. We offer digital accessibility guidance and documentation, training and consultation, accessibility and usability testing and remediation tools, and more.
