Below is a listing of the available IT guidelines at UMD. They are broken down into three categories: security, research, and specific system or application guidance. These guidelines are constantly evolving and were created for the most common questions surrounding security for these areas. If you cannot find a guideline for a security issue you have, please contact IT-Compliance@umd.edu for individualized guidance.

Information Security Standards

These standards apply to all university-owned information technology devices and resources. They serve as instructional guidance for all types of users, from staff to systems administrators and executive leadership, as to how to securely interact, configure, and connect. Policy on the Acceptable Use of Information Technology Resources

IT resources are provided to support the academic, research, instructional, and administrative objectives of the university. This policy sets forth standards for responsible and acceptable use of university information technology (IT) resources. These resources include computer systems, computer labs, applications, networks, software, and files.
