Student IT Advisory Committee (ITAC)
The Student IT Advisory Committee (ITAC) provides recommendations to the Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer (VP/CIO) about student access to information technology. Topics may include, but are not limited to:
Academic IT Directors (AITD)
The Academic IT Directors (AITD) advisory group advises and assists in the planning, development and evaluation of all campus-wide technology solutions and services. The group is composed of leading IT professionals drawn from academic and administrative units at the university. The members have special knowledge and expertise and serve as liaisons between schools/colleges and DIT.
IT Infrastructure Working Group
The IT Infrastructure Working Group (IWG) focuses on building and maintaining a sound, advanced, secure, and productive physical information technology infrastructure (including but not limited to facilities, hardware, networks, and software) capable of supporting broad and effective use by students, faculty, and staff throughout the institution, including remote university members such as agricultural extension offices.
Administrative Systems Working Group
Purpose
The purpose of the Administrative Systems Working Group (ASWG) is to advise the President's Cabinet on the vision, priorities, and pace of investments in administrative systems across the University of Maryland. By administrative systems, we mean any systems that are not directly involved in the learning or research/creativity processes. This includes new systems, major modifications to existing administrative systems, and the purchase of administrative software across campus used to access or manage administrative data.
IT Security Working Group
The IT Security Working Group advises the IT Council and its work groups as well as the VP/CIO on IT security matters. The group's focus is on securing the integrity of information technology resources, safeguarding institutional information, protecting the privacy of university community members in their use of IT, and ensuring the continuity of the institution’s IT resources and information repositories in the face of possible disaster scenarios.
Research Technology Working Group
The Research Technology Working Group (RTWG) provides the vision, priorities, and pace for enterprise research technology solutions and services to be undertaken on campus. Its work focuses on endorsing the adoption of new research technology solutions, as well making recommendations when we need to upgrade or decommission some of our existing services. Deans nominate committee members. The committee usually meets three to four times a semester for one hour.
Learning Technology Working Group
The Learning Technology Working Group (LTWG) provides the vision, priorities, and pace for enterprise learning technology solutions and services to be undertaken on campus. Its work focuses on endorsing the adoption of new learning technology solutions, as well making recommendations when we need to upgrade or decommission some of our existing services. Deans nominate committee members. The committee usually meets three to four times a semester for one hour.
IT Council
The Information Technology Council (IT Council) advises and reports on policy issues concerning the Division of IT to the University Senate and the Vice President for Information Technology and CIO. Learn more about the council's mission on the University Senate website.
