Scheduled Outage of IT Services April 3

On Sunday, April 3, 2022 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., the Division of IT will be performing an upgrade to the core database servers causing many services to be unavailable.

The following systems will be unavailable during the maintenance window:

  • Student Information System (SIS)
  • University of Maryland Electronic Grading System (UMEG)
  • Testudo
  • Payroll and Human Resources System (PHR)
  • ARES
  • Kuali Financial System (KFS)
  • Student Accounts Receivable
  • Student Financial Aid
  • ELMS Management Tool (not ELMS-Canvas)
  • Return.umd.edu

 
The following systems will NOT be impacted and will remain in service during the maintenance window:

  • Campus wired networking and Internet access
  • University website
  • TERPmail student email
  • UMD Gmail email and calendar systems serving faculty, staff, and grad students
  • Phone/voice services
  • Systems operating out of college and department IT facilities
  • Virtual Private Networking (GlobalProtect VPN)
  • Authentication services
  • Wireless networking and wireless network authentication
  • DIT-hosted SQL Server databases
  • ELMS-Canvas

 
Although we do not anticipate issues accessing additional services during the outage, the performance of systems that are integrated with those listed above could be unexpectedly affected.
 
This work is part of our strategic effort to improve the reliability and security of IT services. The outages have been scheduled during off-peak usage hours to minimize the adverse impact. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience they may cause.
