New Secure Share Service

Do you have a large attachment or confidential document that you need to share? Don’t send that Personally Identifiable Information in an email attachment! Secure Share is a new service that can help. Secure Share is not a document storage service. Recipients will be notified via email that a file or message is being shared with them. They will be provided with the URL for the Secure Share site where they can retrieve the files or messages.

University Process Innovation

The Division of IT offers university process innovation services as a strategic effort under the VP/CIO. The efforts focus on the strategic business processes of the university and how they relate to the underpinning information technology. Discovering, evaluating, and improving processes and practices before technology decisions are made results in improved value delivery and a lower cost of implementation.

We offer consultation and facilitation services for academic and administrative units throughout the University of Maryland. Services include:

ITAC Proposals

The Division of Information Technology awards projects proposed by university community members. Successful proposals should aim at providing strategic enhancements to campus-wide IT services. The Student IT Advisory Committee (ITAC), composed of student representatives from many UMD colleges and schools, reviews all proposals and makes recommendations to the VP/CIO on how to distribute the allocated funds to projects deemed to have the greatest impact.

Student IT Advisory Committee (ITAC)

The Student IT Advisory Committee (ITAC) provides recommendations to the Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer (VP/CIO) about student access to information technology. Topics may include, but are not limited to:

Academic IT Directors (AITD)

The Academic IT Directors (AITD) advisory group advises and assists in the planning, development and evaluation of all campus-wide technology solutions and services. The group is composed of leading IT professionals drawn from academic and administrative units at the university. The members have special knowledge and expertise and serve as liaisons between schools/colleges and DIT.

IT Infrastructure Working Group

The IT Infrastructure Working Group (IWG) focuses on building and maintaining a sound, advanced, secure, and productive physical information technology infrastructure (including but not limited to facilities, hardware, networks, and software) capable of supporting broad and effective use by students, faculty, and staff throughout the institution, including remote university members such as agricultural extension offices.

Administrative Systems Working Group

Purpose

The purpose of the Administrative Systems Working Group (ASWG) is to advise the President's Cabinet on the vision, priorities, and pace of investments in administrative systems across the University of Maryland. By administrative systems, we mean any systems that are not directly involved in the learning or research/creativity processes. This includes new systems, major modifications to existing administrative systems, and the purchase of administrative software across campus used to access or manage administrative data.
