Scheduled Outage of IT Services March 16, 2025

On March 16 between 4 a.m. and 1 p.m., DIT will conduct a set of disaster recovery network resiliency tests that could cause intermittent service interruptions.

Updates to umd-iot Wireless Network for Spring 2025

All faculty, staff, and non-resident students can now register personally owned IoT devices (like streaming devices and gaming consoles) on the campus network. This capability was previously only available to resident students and select campus IT support staff. (University-owned devices should be registered by department IT staff.)

Required Annual IT Security Awareness Training

All faculty and staff, including FRAs and GAs, are required to complete “Defend Your Shell 2025” training before April 5, 2025. This year, the training is hosted in Workday.

AI at the University of Maryland

UMD leaders announced several updates related to AI at UMD, including new guidelines, a new tool, and a commission's final report.

UMD Zoom Cloud Recordings Older Than 180 Days Are Automatically Deleted

Starting January 1, 2025, all UMD Zoom recordings older than 180 days are automatically deleted on a continuous basis.

Winter Session 2025 Service Modifications

Some DIT services will have modified hours during Winter Session. Additionally, most of the division will be closed on Monday, January 20 in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Winter Break 2024 Service Modifications

DIT offices will be closed Tuesday, December 24 through Thursday, January 1. Additional service modifications (including some for finals week) are listed.

Thanksgiving 2024 Service Hours

Division of IT offices will be closed Wednesday through Friday, November 27-29 for the university's Thanksgiving break. Some will also have adjusted hours earlier in the week.
