The University of Maryland is committed to providing equitable access to all members of our community. In alignment with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations and the University of Maryland Accessible Technology Policy, we are releasing the Digital Accessibility Interim Guidelines and Resources.
These guidelines were developed by the Digital Accessibility Advisory Committee (DAAC), which is charged with creating a campus-wide implementation plan to align with the University of Maryland Accessible Technology Policy. While the DAAC, co-chaired by Ana Palla and Paul Jaeger, continues its work, these Interim Guidelines and Resources provide initial steps, priority levels, and tools to help campus units progress on their digital accessibility journey. The guidelines are designed to support units in advancing this work, outlining practical actions and resources to make digital content—including websites, course materials, documents, videos, web and mobile applications, and social media—accessible to everyone.
Please review the Digital Accessibility Interim Guidelines and Resources and begin integrating these updated accessibility best practices into your work as soon as possible. The updated UMD Accessible Technology Policy requires significant amounts of our digital content to be fully accessible by April 24, 2026. Together, we can ensure that UMD continues to be an inclusive and accessible university for all. Questions can be directed to itaccessibility@umd.edu.
Thank you for your partnership and commitment to accessibility.
