New Look for MFA Login Screens - August 1, 2022 The look and feel of the multi-factor authentication login screens (DUO) within the UMD Central Authentication Service (CAS) will change. Recent UMD Cybersecurity Attacks
Over the past week, UMD has seen a rapid increase in the number of spear phishing attacks directed at UMD employees. In a spear phishing attack, a forged email is commonly sent to members of the UMD community, and the goal is to get people to click on an email attachment. The forged email shows the name of a trusted member of the UMD community such as your department chair or business officer.
Changes to UMD Password Policies
Beginning on April 11, 2022, the University of Maryland’s Directory password requirements will change.
New University Data Privacy Policy
The university has a new Data Privacy Policy (Policy X-15.00(A)), which was approved by the University Senate and signed by President Pines at the end of December. The policy sets out the principles by which UMD interacts with individuals' data and the expectations that individuals can have in how the university uses their data.
