2-Step Authentication Requirement for TERPmail
Beginning Monday, September 21, 2026, 2-Step authentication will be required in order to access UMD TERPmail student and alumni email accounts.
UMD Zoom Web Interface Redesign
Beginning September 30, UMD Zoom's web interface will have a new design, similar to the Zoom desktop app.
New System for UMD Account Management
On August 10, 2026, UMD will launch a new account management platform for self-service account management functions such as activating new accounts, changing passphrases, and updating MFA settings. August 6-10, updates to UMD account information will be delayed, and UMD community members will not be able to create new DUO MFA bypass codes or register new hardware tokens.
New Network Security Certificate May Affect eduroam Connections
On July 16, DIT updated the security certificate for the university wired and wireless networks. This means that university community members may need to install the new certificate on personally owned devices before they will connect to eduroam the next time.
Scheduled Outage of IT Services March 16, 2026
On Monday, March 16, 2026 between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m., DIT will conduct a set of disaster recovery network resiliency tests that could cause intermittent service interruptions.
Default Retention Time for Chat Tools
Effective January 26, 2026, the default retention time for UMD-supported chat tools will be reduced to 24 hours in most cases.
