Starting January 1, 2025, all UMD Zoom recordings older than 180 days are automatically deleted on a continuous basis.
It is a best practice not to use Zoom for long-term storage. Please consider carefully whether you have a legitimate need to retain the record; and delete unnecessary records whenever possible.
If you need to retain any recording beyond 180 days from its recording date, please copy class recordings to Panopto or use another storage service such as Google Drive or Box.
To learn how to download and delete a Zoom recording, check out this support article: Download and Delete Zoom Recordings and Transcripts. All deleted recordings will remain in a trashcan on your Zoom account for 30 days before being permanently deleted. You will receive a notification from Zoom* one week before the permanent deletion.
*Important: The Zoom notification setting is ON by default in your Zoom online profile. To receive notifications from Zoom, please ensure the setting is checked. To find the setting, go to your Zoom profile at umd.zoom.us > Settings > Meeting > Email notification > When the cloud recording is going to be permanently deleted from trash.
If you have any questions, please contact the IT Service Desk.
