On Thursday, August 17, 2023, between 4 and 7 a.m., the Division of IT will update the security certificate for the eduroam wireless network. For the smoothest transition, before August 17, please go to setup.wireless.umd.edu. The wireless onboarding tool, SecureW2, will provide you with the updated security certificate and prepare your device for additional upcoming network upgrades. Note: If you complete this process from off campus, you will receive a message that says “network may not be in range or password may be incorrect.” This is expected behavior. Please select “Continue” to complete the process.
If you do not install a new copy of SecureW2, some devices may present you with a security alert message, and others may be unable to connect to eduroam until the certificate is updated. If you have trouble connecting after the change, we recommend selecting the device option to forget the eduroam network and then visiting setup.wireless.umd.edu to reconnect to eduroam.
We regret any inconvenience caused by this update. If you have questions or need assistance getting reconnected to eduroam after the update, please contact the IT Service Desk.
