As the Executive Director for Mid-Atlantic Crossroads (MAX), Tessa provides strategic leadership for the advanced optical Research and Education Network (REN) within DIT. The MAX network is purpose-built for research-focused customers of all sizes to include universities, research labs, quantum-focused companies, federal and state government agencies, and public- and private-sector organizations that rely on advanced, high-performance telecommunications technologies for research and innovation. In addition, MAX operates UMD's DNS root service, D-root, one of the 13 root DNS servers of the Internet.
