Kevin Hildebrand

Kevin leads the Research Technology and HPC Services group, overseeing the mission-critical infrastructure and specialized expertise that drive the University of Maryland’s research enterprise. His team manages Zaratan, the university’s flagship high-performance computing cluster, and the Controlled Unclassified Information Environment (CUIE), a secure enclave designed for NIST-compliant research. Kevin also directs the university's Google Cloud Platform (GCP) research services, managing project requests and assisting faculty in seamlessly incorporating cloud-scale resources into their research workflows. Beyond infrastructure, his group provides high-level technical consulting—including software design, code optimization, and debugging—to help researchers overcome complex computational challenges.
