Tim leads the team that provides wide area networking for Mid-Atlantic Crossroads (MAX), high-performance computing, and DNS support within the Advanced Cyberinfrastructure and Internet Global Services unit in DIT. Zaratan is the HPC environment that UMD stood up, which currently has 360 nodes and 50,000 cores. The DNS team supports one of the thirteen DNS root servers, D-root, that currently consists of 532 servers at 206 sites in 113 countries. MAX is a GigaPoP that supports high-bandwidth and advanced network services to participants in the research, education, and non-profit sectors. The team is currently upgrading the MAX network to support 800G at the core and 400G at the edge.
