Megan C. Masters, Ph.D. is the Interim Assistant Vice President for Academic Technology and Innovation in the Division of Information Technology. With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Masters provides strategic vision and oversight for enterprise-wide academic technologies that drive teaching, learning, and research. She leads the management of UMD’s Enterprise Learning Management System (ELMS-Canvas), digital and physical learning environments, application integrations, classroom audio visual technology, and the business intelligence and analytics that inform academic technology strategy. Dr. Masters is also responsible for the strategic implementation of a comprehensive digital accessibility portfolio, ensuring equitable access to academic and digital resources at scale. Dr. Masters is committed to advancing innovative, pedagogy-driven technology practices in higher education, enabling academic technologies to effectively support teaching, learning, and student success across the university community.

A scholar-practitioner with expertise in second language acquisition, statistics, program evaluation, and assessment, Dr. Masters has published books, research articles, and conference papers on topics spanning language learning, technology integration, and data-informed decision-making. She is also an affiliate faculty member in the College of Arts and Humanities, where she contributes to interdisciplinary research and teaching.

Recognized for her contributions to academic technology and student success, Dr. Masters has received numerous awards, including the Sharon A. LaVoy Data Impact Award, Wow! Award for Campus Impact, and a Teaching Innovation Grant. Her leadership extends beyond the university through her involvement in EDUCAUSE, the American Educational Research Association (AERA), and the Association for Institutional Research (AIR).
