From 7 a.m. Sunday, March 17 until 7 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2019, the Division of Information Technology will conduct a test of disaster recovery procedures for institutional IT systems that will result in an outage of many university IT services. The State Office of Legislative Audits requires that disaster recovery planning and testing be conducted annually. Conducting such tests is essential to ensuring that IT services can withstand failure large and small.

While this test will result in a significant outage of IT systems and services, the following systems will NOT be impacted and will remain in service during the testing:

  • Data (including wireless) and voice network and Internet access from campus locations
  • G Suite for Education email and calendar systems serving faculty, staff, and many grad students
  • TERPmail student email
  • University website (however, some services accessed via the website will not be working)
  • Systems operating out of college and department IT facilities
  • University Directory login services for systems operating out of college and department IT facilities

Systems that will be impacted include, but are not limited to:

  • Student Information System (SIS)
  • University of Maryland Electronic Grading System (UMEG)
  • Testudo
  • Payroll and Human Resources System (PHR)
  • Kuali Financial System (KFS)
  • Student Accounts Receivable/Bad Debt
  • Student Financial Aid
  • ELMS Management Tool
